Governor Makinde Seeks Support for Iwajowa Obas

The Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde has urged the people of Ilaji-ile, Iwere-ile, Idiko-Ago and Idiko-Ile in Iwajowa Local Government Area of the State to cooperate with their new beaded crowned Obas in order to move their ancient towns forward socially, economically and culturally.  Governor Makinde speaking through the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Barrister Olasunkanmi Olaleye during the official crowning ceremony of Oba Lawal Oyedepo O Alebiosu, Bajigan of Ilaji-ile, Oba, Rev/Evang John Odedokun , Ayinla Ilufemiloye, Oniwere of Iwere-ile, Oba Joseph Tewogbola Oyediran, Onidiko of Idiko-Ago, and Oba Nicolas Oyelami Folaranmi, Onidiko-Ile appreciated all the sons and daughters of the respective towns for their cooperation and maturity, adding that he was sure that the good names of the indigenes has been registered in the history of the towns.  Speaking further, Governor Makinde congratulated the new Obas on their new status as a b

Gegun Ayetoro-Oke Wears Beaded Crown Oba

Ayetoro-Oke, an ancient town in Kajola Local Government Area of Oyo State on Tuesday 25th April, 2023 received unprecedented crowd when the Gegun of Ayetoro-Oke Land, His Royal Majesty Oba Najeemdeen Afolabi Osuolale Adesola Adelaja (Tukuru II) became a beaded crown king. The memorable event took place at Baptist Primary School Ayetoro-Oke playing ground. While presenting the Staff of office to Oba Najeemdeen Adelaja, Governor Seyi Makinde of the State who was represented by Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters Mr. Joel Ajagbe Olaleye congratulated the newly crowned Oba and advised him to distant himself from anything that could stain his dignity among Obas, chiefs and his people. Publishing OkehoNews gives me the rare privilege of meeting many great sons and daughters of Okeho, who are making exploits with their God given abilities in their chosen career. These eminent personalities form the basis of our wealth as a town. So, in 2006, we decided to celebrate these illustrious indegenes with a book work titled: Okeho: Achievers Haven, a Collection of Who is Who in Okeho. Apart from celebrating these icons, another motive for the book was to make some money. So we decided to charge everyone we are featuring in the book N5000 ( Five Thousand naira ) only. Chief Bayande Ayanlowo was among the people who refused to pay the N5000 subscription fee. He told me he was not going to pay to be listed among the Who is Who in Okeho. I tried very hard to explain the economic motive of the publication to him, yet he didn't pay. But Chief Ayanlowo must be in the book, if truly it's about Who is Who in Okeho. Okeho Community Call on Oyo Deputy Governor to Fulfill Promise .

The Chairman Planning Committee of the just concluded Okeho day celebration, High Prince Dr. Leye Babalola has called on the Oyo State Deputy Governor, Barrister Bayo Lawal  to make good  the promise he made to the people of the community during the 2022 Okeho Day celebration.  Speaking exclusively to OkehoNews, the Chartered Tax Practioner said that the Deputy Governor who graced the celebration on the 26th of November 2022 asked the Planning Committee to come to his his office for the donation of the state government on the following Thursday, which they did and up till date nothing has come out .  He lamented the level of neglect being experienced by the community from various governments and most expecially this administration which he said  has practically done nothing for the town in almost his four years tenure.  High Prince Babalola who is also the Vice President Asian Chamber of Commerce and Industry ( Africa Region) said that his committee resolved to embark on the light up O

The yearning and aspirants of the people of Oke Ogun area has been well captured in the 2023 budget for the overall development of the region. This assurance was part of speech delivered by Oyo state Deputy Governor, Barrister Bayo Lawal who represented the State Governor Engineer Seyi Makinde at the 2022 Ilero Day Celebration. The Deputy Governor noted that the Seyi Makinde led administration since inception has been running an inclusive government with people oriented programmes for the overall development of the state. He disclosed that rehabilitation work has commenced on Alaga-Ilero-Ayegun road. Okeho Day Celebration set to hold November 26th 2022

Plans are in top gear for the week-long activities that will culminate in the grand finale of the 2022 Okeho Day celebration. The event will begin on November 20, 2022, while the grand finale will take place on November 26, 2022. Sunday Oyetunji Thomas (aka Tunakin): The Exit of An Icon By Tim Amosun

Dady Sunday Oyetunji Thomas was born on the 18th of October 1942 into the family of Late Pa. Fatorisa and Madam Kikelomo Thomas of Ikolaba Compound, Ogan, Okeho, Oyo state. He attended Baptist Day School Isia, Okeho, Saint James School, Ibadan and Methodist Modern Secondary School, Osogbo. He was later trained as a professional photographer with "Ariyo's Photo", Oke Paadi, Ibadan between 1961 and 1964. He started his own photography studio as a Master Professional Photographer in the year 1964 at Olosa-oko, Oke Paadi, Ibadan. He later took a decision to move to Adamashigba, Ibadan. The name of his studio was "White Photos" when he started in 1964. He went for professional photography course (Colour Laboratory) in Italy in 1975. When he returned to Nigeria from Italy, he went into partnership with one of his good friends, Akinade Oniti (of blessed memory) to establish a joint company called TUNAKIN Photo in 1982.
