Ire Nbe Nile: Commonwealth Estate Okeho By Bola Olalere

Twenty years ago, when we started OkehoNews,  some people did not give us the benefit of doubt, perhaps because it's a new idea and it's the first in our community.  Others considered our community too local and not economically viable for 'newspapering.'  Some other sees  us  as too young and poor to embark on such mission. Newspaper proprietorship was considered the affairs of the state or  successful politicians/businessmen.  But from one painful step to another; with determination and sacrifice-taking the heat of being the first and the help of Olodumare and our patrons, we thrived and survived. OkehoNews now prides itself as the longest surviving community newsmagazine in Oyo state.  Kinsmen, with total disregard to the risk and stress associated with being the first, here we present to you another 'First' for our people in Okeho and OkeOgun in general: THE COMMONWEALTH ESTATE, Okeho. For so long, we have relied on government and politicians to change our l...

As the birth of Jesus Christ signifies faith, hope, peace and love, I enjoin Christians to pray for peace, unity and progress of our dear Country. Therefore, Christians should reflect soberly on the significance of the birth of Jesus Christ and imbibe the lessons therein because Christmas calls for rejoicing in the Almighty God for His infinite mercies and behoves all and sundry to be moderate in all situations, love one another and share out of their belongings to the needy. However, I seize the opportunity offered by this year's Christmas celebrations to charge Nigerians of all faiths to r...

PREAMBLE Dear Esteemed Patriots. Without a doubt, the ancient city state of Oyo presently faces great and grave challenges. Hence, the need for bold ideas, innovation, creativity, and sincerity of purpose for real change becomes imperative. More than ever before our beloved state needs to hear the truth from its leaders. The truth is that as a people we face the same choice we have always faced in difficult times. Shall we continue in that directionless path we have travelled in our recent past? Or are we ready to change direction and move boldly into the future for the sake of our children, if not for ourselves? The choice remains ours. Dear patriot, as a fellow believer in the Oyo dream, as a stakeholder and as a voter, you are a guardian not only of what kind of legislators we will have, but what kind of future we will leave for our children. You deserve real substance, not mere rhetoric. I present to you my inspired vision and mission, as well as, my proposal to stand up for the su...
